On August 5, 2024, PennDOT began using the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse (Clearinghouse). The Clearinghouse is a secure online database that gives State Driver Licensing Agencies, State law enforcement, FMCSA, and employers of commercial driver's real-time information about commercial driver drug and alcohol program violations. On August 28, 2023, PennDOT began administering a new Modernized Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Skills Test to all CDL applicants at branch offices statewide and third-party testing programs. For more information, please visit our Modernized Commercial Driver License Skills Testing page.
