Hazardous Materials Endorsement
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON FINGERPRINTING SERVICES
Please be advised that as of close of business on Friday, November 17, 2017, the Commonwealth will have a new supplier for fingerprinting services. Individuals who are not registered and fingerprinted before this date must wait until November 28, 2017 to receive those services through the new provider, Idemia. *
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For additional information, please visit Idemia’s IndentoGO Pennsylania website.
*The only exceptions that will be made during that time frame will be for individuals who have an issue with a fingerprint taken prior to November 17 and will be reprinted by November 27. Those individuals who do not get their reprint by November 27 will need to re-register with the new provider and will have 90 days to get their reprint at no cost.
Federal Rulemaking has been issued as a component of the USA PATRIOT Act that regulates the issuance or renewal of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a hazardous materials endorsement. The major impact of this rulemaking is that persons involved in the transportation of hazardous materials will need to be fingerprinted and pay additional Federal fees as part of a Federal security risk assessment. PennDOT must receive clearance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Transportation Security Administration for any driver wishing to transport hazardous materials. This clearance must be obtained each time your CDL with a hazardous materials endorsement is issued or renewed.
You will be required to pre-register with Idemia before visiting a site for fingerprinting. Pre-registration can be completed by visiting
Idemia's IdentoGO Pennsylvania website, or by calling (855) 347-8371. The $21.50 fee (covering the FBI) will be collected by Idemia either at the time the CDL holder pre-registers to have their fingerprints taken or at an Idemia fingerprint location.
